Located 390km from Bangkok, Chumphon is conveniently situated with close proximity to the islands of Koh Samui, Koh Pha-Ngan and Koh Tao to the East, as well as Phuket to the South. Despite this great location it remains a quiet province with numerous un-spoilt beaches dotted along the coast as well as many small off shore islands waiting to be explored.

For the nature enthusiast there are large tracts of intact forest with many species of birds, mammals and reptiles. You can explore one of the many famous cave systems or meander down a river in a raft. Should you wish to explore the local culture there are numerous temples within the Chumphon province, many with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. On a clear day you can see many of the islands situated around the province.

Like many coastal areas, Chumphon has some excellent seafood restaurants with prices much lower than resorts in Phuket, Pattaya and Samui. The weather in Chumphon remains relatively stable throughout the year, with slightly cooler temperatures in the summer and less rain throughout the year.

Chumphon is a fantastic jumping off point for many of the more famous locations in Thailand including Koh Samui, Koh Tao and Koh Pha-Ngan, trips can be arranged in Chumphon to make the short boat journey to any of these locations and you can also make arrangements for diving trips to any of the islands – the most famous diving location on the East coast being Koh Tao, which not only offers a plethora of stunning diving spots which are recognized as being amongst the best in Thailand but the cost for diving is exceptional value.
