Located 390km from Bangkok, Chumphon is conveniently situated with close proximity to the islands of Koh Samui, Koh Pha-Ngan and Koh Tao to the East, as well as Phuket to the South. Despite this great location it remains a quiet province with un-spoilt beaches and intact forests.
For culture enthusiasts there are numerous temples within the Chumphon province, many with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.
There are several ways to get to Chumphon. Motorists can get there via the Rama 2 Highway which takes you almost all the way into Chumphon city. After around 370km, turn into Highway No. 4 and drive through Phetchaburi Province and Prachuap Khiri Khan Province until you come to Pathomphorn Intersection. From here it is approximately 10km into the city center.
Should you decide to take the train the journey time is approximately 8 hours. Trains depart daily from Hualamphon station.
Buses take approximately 6 hours to reach Chumphon and leave from the Southern bus terminal several times a day.
